Meet the Keeyora Crew: Bradley Clark
Q: CAN YOU TELL EVERYONE ABOUT YOURSELF, AND WHAT YOU DO?
A: I’m Brad and I’m usually happiest on two wheels, but even more so with my 2 sons pedaling beside me. I’ve been a tech recruiter for many years and have had the chance to work with some amazing organizations - big and small. Some of the most memorable places include Samsung R&D, Boeing Labs, Invoke and Finning Digital.
Since starting Keeyora, I’m more focused on the product strategy and vision. Collectively, we brainstorm and continue to innovate our product - usually the best ideas wins!
Q: NOW CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF, ONLY USING EMOJIS?
A:
Q: SO FAR, WHAT’S YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT WITH KEEYORA?
A: In a start-up, each day is different! I would say each day has a mini proud moment as we’re constantly figuring things out and solving news problems. But it’s not the solution I’m proud of the most, it’s the way we rally together as a team and collaborate to find the best outcome.
Q: WHAT MAKES YOU THE MOST EXCITED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF KEEYORA?
A: There are lots of future exciting things we’re working on, I’m really excited to get Keeyora in the hands of more recruiters - and allow them to hire faster with texting. So scaling is pretty exciting.
Q: IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME AND DO ONE THING DIFFERENTLY WITH KEEYORA, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
A: I wish I was more skilled with UX design programs. If I could get a hot tub time machine and travel back, I’d invest more time in learning the basics. Instead, I send our designers crude wireframes and mockups. They’re very gracious with me.
Q: WHAT BOOKS ARE YOU READING OR PODCASTS ARE YOU LISTENING TO THESE DAYS?
A: I’m usually juggling a few different books, and I’m a big fan of audible.
1) An Elegant Puzzle: Systems of Engineering Management by Will Larson
2) Founder Dilemmas by Noam Wasserman
3) Nine Lies About Work by Marcus Buckingham, Ashley Goodall
4) Stalling for Time by Gary Noesner
For podcasts, I listen to: Chad & Cheese, Hire Power, Recruitment Flex, How I Built This, CBC Ideas, HardCore History, REWORK, 21st Century HR, and Ongoing HIstory of New Music - just to name a few!
Q: IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO GET A START-UP GOING, ANY SHOUTOUTS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE HELPED?
A: In no particular order and I know I’m missing a million others, but the following have offered their time, assistance, and inspiration (knowingly or unknowingly): Elliot of Human Predictions, Rick Thompson, Kris of Dooly, Dallas of Get Perk, Chris Miller, Cam of OneComply, CTO.Ai, George George LaRocque, Jeff Natland, Erik Kaas, Kim Kaplan, Chad Sowash, Joel Cheese, Shelly & Serge of Recruitment Flex, Peter McLachlan, Louis, Ben & Justice of Rocketplace, Ron Lo, Andrew Oh, and Will van Middendorp
Q: SAY A TECH START-UP ASKS YOU TO DESIGN THEIR RECRUITMENT TECH STACK, WHAT WOULD YOU USE?
A: Dependent on their size and stage, but for sure GMail/Slack for internal communications and Trello for projects.
For funded start-ups: Greenhouse, Human Predictions, SwordFish, Keeyora (of course), TalentWall, LinkedIn Lite.
For super early stages/bootstrapped start-ups: Indeed ATS, Keeyora and SwordFish (optional)
Q: WHAT ARE THREE THINGS PEOPLE WOULDN’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
A: 1) In between working for a recruitment agency and before starting my recruitment consulting practice, I backpacked around Europe for 91 days. I saw 15 countries and stayed in 31 cities. I travelled by train, plane, bus, ferry, rental cars, scooter, ATV, Metro, bicycle, and funicular.
2) I have a decent sized StarWars Lego collection.
3) My first vehicle was older than me! It was a 1972 GMC truck that was lowered, and while it needed a paint job, it still turned a lot of heads. My current project however, is a few years younger than me. It’s a 1981 Honda CX500 cafe racer!
Q: ANY NEW SKILLS OR HOBBIES YOU’VE PICKED UP IN COVID ISOLATION?
A: I bought a remote control truck but I broke it within two weeks.. Now I’m trying to fix it. I should have focused on learning work skills but I needed something fun to do.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR SUMMER BEER OF CHOICE?
A: Steamworks Lager or FourWinds Pilsner
Q: WHEN THINGS NORMALIZE, WHERE IS THE NEXT PLACE YOU WANT TO TRAVEL?
A: My family had to cancel a trip to Mexico, but hopefully in the spring we can reschedule.
Q: WHEN YOU’RE SWAMPED WITH WORK, WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO SONG/PLAYLIST?
A: I rarely do work with music on. I get too caught up and sucked into it. For music overall, I’m stuck in my ways with punk and hard rock. Social Distortion, Face to Face, Lucero, are typically in heavy rotation.
Q: WHAT’S THE BEST WAY FOR SOMEONE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU?
A: Easy - Brad@Rectxt.com or text me (778) 744-0885
